Description
Tapeworm Dewormer Tablets for Cats to help remove common species of tapeworms. Formulated with 23 mg praziquantel, this dewormer works quickly and is easy to administer. It's effective against 2 species (Taenia taeniaeformis and Dipylidium caninum) in cats and kittens over the age of 6 weeks. There are 3 tablets included per package.
The liver absorbs and metabolizes praziquantel, and it is excreted through the bile. When it enters the digestive tract, the cytocidal action of the drug causes tapeworms to lose their ability to resist host digestion. Because of this, whole tapeworms can rarely pass completely through the digestive system of a host. Typically, tapeworms are mostly digested, and only pieces of the worms can be found in feces following praziquantel treatment.
